A Successful Robert “Bees” Prendergast Reception

2016 St. PatsWith incredible support from the Berkshire community, Hillcrest raised $60,000 from the annual St. Patrick’s gala held on March 18th at the Country Club of Pittsfield. Over 240 businesses and individuals supported the event through their attendance, sponsorships, and donated auction items.

President of the Massachusetts State Senate, Senator Stanley Rosenberg, was presented with the “Irish Person of the Year” award. The Pittsfield UNICO was honored with the “Judge John A. Barry Award” for Community Service.

To highlight the event, attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from a 15 year old Hillcrest student, Mister Shaw, who shared his journey of losing his family in a fire and experienced numerous failed placements. His foster parent also shared an amazing story of resilience and how his son has overcome so many obstacles.

Coming from foster care himself, Senator Rosenberg is working on the Kids’ First initiative, and believes that Hillcrest is part of the continuum by helping kids to live the best lives they can. He shared a sentiment describing the feeling of helping children in their time of need, “if you lose but one child, it is as though you lost the whole word, but if you save one child it’s like you saved the whole world”.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. Apr. 27, 2016 – Greylock Federal Credit Union has donated $12,500 to Hillcrest Educational Foundation in support of our Annual “Bees” Prendergast Reception and Hillcrest Dental Care’s program to provide dental health education in local schools.

Holiday Wish Program Success

Holiday celebration

Hillcrest’s Tim Gallagher and Robert Fraser, President & CEO of MountainOne Financial at a Hillcrest campus holiday celebration

What a successful year for our Holiday Wish Program! Each of our students creates a “wish” list and asks for several gifts for the holiday season. We are blessed to have several community individuals and organizations play Santa and help fulfill each child’s list. By the look on each child’s face when they received their gifts, this year was one of the best ever! Who knew it took so much work to coordinate and deliver almost 800 gifts.

Hillcrest’s 2016 Annual Campaign

Annual CampaignAs many of you know, we are at the start of our Annual Campaign. To kick things off, we announced this to our staff at the annual all-staff meeting held at Shakespeare & Co. in December and since then, almost fifty percent of them have participated. We wanted to publicly thank our staff and let them know that we are proud of their generosity and that their support is a testimony to the impactful work that Hillcrest provides for children.

We also wanted to thank each of you who have sent in your pledge already this year. Your support gives Hillcrest the ability to continue to provide the specialized treatment and education these children deserve. And it works…

Did you know that 85% of our children successfully graduate from our programs?

And of these graduates, 90% are still successful after one year?

ASD studentOur success with special needs children is due in large part by keeping our staff trained with the most current and effective treatment strategies. Your support helps the Hillcrest training department provide a whopping 18,720 hours of internal training annually.

In addition to its successful treatment programs for children, Hillcrest has a large community impact. Supporting Hillcrest means supporting over 530 staff living and spending money in the local community. On the business side, last year, over 60% of all Hillcrest payables were to vendors located within Berkshire County.

We ask you for your donation today because your support for Hillcrest means much more than a donation. It supports your local community, the people that work in it, and gives every child a chance to be successful. To help them Heal, Learn and Thrive!

Although you can send us any amount that you feel comfortable with, please consider our different societies of giving levels to help with your decision.
